   Documents to be Submited when Applying for Grant of a Bookmakers Permit

       Certified copies of the Memorandum and Articles of Association

 

       A statement showing the names and addresses of the directors and  

          secretary of the company and of the persons in accordance with whose 

          directions or instructions the directors are accustomed to act and whether 

          or not such persons are citizens of and resident in Jamaica.

 

       A statement showing the authorized capital, the issued capital, the paid up

          capital and a list of the names, addresses and occupations of the person 

          who are shareholders in the company at the time of the application and 

          whether or not such persons are citizens of and residents in Jamaica.

 

       Last audited Financial Statement, if not yet available, in house financial

          statements.

 

       Opening Profit and Loss Account and Balance Sheet.

 

       Documentary evidence to substantiate the filing of Income Tax Returns for the 

          company and its directors.

 

       A Permit Fee is payable to the Betting, Gaming & Lotteries Commission

 

   Notice

    The Commission will investigate all Companies and Individuals that have applied 

     and/or have been granted licences in order to protect the Betting and Gaming

    consumers from fraudulent operators and persons.

   Application for Licence to operate Gaming Machine(s) on Precribed Premises

     Gaming Machine Operators must apply to the Commission for licences to operate 

     any such machines using the Application Forms provided by the Commission.

     Completed Applications Forms must be submitted to the Commission along with 

     receipts evidencing payments of the Annual Levy required by the Act.

.    An Annual Levy in the sum of Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000) per machine is due 

     and payable by each operator to the Collector of Taxes on the 1st day of April each

     year.

.    Additionally, the payment of the following fees by the licencees must be made to 

     the Commission: -

 

           A licence fee of Two Thousand Dollars ($2,000) in respect of each gaming

           machine specified in the licence, payable on the grant of a licence.

 

           A fee of Five Hundred Dollars ($500) to cover the provision by the 

           Commission of an identification disc in respect of each gaming machine 

           specified in the licence.

     Every Gaming Machine Licence granted by the Commission shall be valid for a 

     period of twelve (12) months from the date of issue and may be renewed not 

     less than twenty-one (21) days before expiration.

     Owners or Operators of premises on which gaming machines are operated without

     licence, in default of the provisions of the Act will be liable to punishment by fine

     and/or imprisonment upon conviction

     

    Notice

     Notice is hereby given that pursuant to the Betting Gaming and Lotteries 

     (Amendment) Act, 2000 which came into effect 19th July, 2000, the Betting, 

     Gaming & Lotteries Commission (the Commission) is the only Authority empowered

     to grant licences for and to regulate the operations of gaming machines in any

     prescribed premises in Jamaica.

  Requirements for Conducting Prize Competitions

   All applications should be submitted to the Betting, Gaming and Lotteries 

   Commission at least twenty-one (21) days prior to any advertisement of the

   competition. Applicants must submit details of each competition including at lease 

   the following :-

        Name of Competition

        Commencement date of Competition

        Final Date of Competition

        Rules

        Method of selection

        Date(s) of selection

        Details of prize(s)

        Copy of promotional advertisement (Flyers, Newspaper, Radio & Television

             publications)

 

   Notice

    Approvals, if granted, will include requirements that the names of prizewinners are 

    to published and evidence of the proof of payment of prizes is to be submitted to  

    the Commission, which will reserve the right to observe the selection of prizewinners.

    Promoters who are granted approval will be required to include the following 

   statement in at least one medium that is used to advertise the promotion:-

   "Authorized by Order under the Betting Gaming and Lotteries Act"
